Charmaine Young

My images of Newfoundland are a result of my love and connection with the culture of our province. Every cove, bay, inlet, cliff, is more beautiful than the next. I was born and raised in Twillingate, and my families history is from Fogo Island, so I don't have to go far to see spectacular vistas. I have had an interest in photography for as long as I can remember. In later years my interest have mainly been landscape, wildlife, nature and macro photography. Seeing the view through a lens gets you connected with the world around you. It 's a totally different perspective. When you can see an orange sunset with an iceberg in the foreground, or an osprey bringing a flatfish to its family, everything becomes very personal, and moves you of the beauty in this world and you wonder why there aren't hundreds of people there to see and feel it with you. I try to capture that moment in time to share with people who can truly appreciate our way of life.
